Super secret blog

Hi there reader.

Chances are that you are only here because I’ve been applying for graphic design jobs like crazy for the last few months. And you are one of the rare recruiters who actually is checking my portfolio and hasn’t straight out rejected my application because my resume is lacking. Thank you for being here.

I’m not good at promoting myself or even figuring out what about me is impressive to people. I’ve always thought my greatest achievement was petting a wolf. It’s time to be more prolific in my efforts to show off my abilities. So here’s a sneak peak at something I’m very excited about.

It’s the start of a branding of a fictional company. Sort of a graphic design final project. It’s not much to see now, I’ve only spent a few hours on the sketches and the first logo idea. But I’m very excited about how it’s turning out. Don’t even want to clean up this picture of the sketches. Just want to show these first steps. Over a decade ago I was told I' wasn’t suited for graphic design. I should become a fine artist instead. But I find fine arts boring, it doesn’t make my soul sing like design does. I want to make art with purpose. That’s why I went to study animation. But animation is often too much of a team effort. I like teams but of maybe 10 people at most. Anyway, not making this into a sad and long blog. I might not have a degree in graphic design but I’ve still studied it. It’s a useful skill when you are an artist and are setting up a comic book cover or designing posters for a cult movie festival.

First draft of the logo and color palette. It’s an Icelandic tea company called Gleym-mér-te, as in Forget-me-nots but it’s a pun. Forgetea-me-nots I guess. I’m going to make two branding packages. One more affable and the other more high scale. I really like this one. It’s going to take a few weeks but it’s going to look so good! Hope you like it too stranger.
