Hey, so last year I was commissioned to make small illustrations of superheroes as centerpieces at a wedding. It's probably my favorite freelance project I've ever gotten and the couple was cool with me drawing my favorite heroes. Anyway, here they are:

Earlier this year I was commissioned to draw the Icelandic santa clauses (or Yule Lads as they are sometimes known as) for the Dyslexic Association of Iceland. There are 13 santa clauses and each have their own name and personality so it was a fun project. Here are the final illustrations:

So it's been a year since I blogged last. I will do one where I catch up on what's been happening (because a lot has happened) but right now I want to share with you some of the caricatures I've been doing for my friends. They seem to be growing in popularity.
So, recently I moved back to Reykjavik. For how long, I don't know. I'm also moving into a renovated garage. It will be nice to live on my own, with no roommates for a change. I'm also looking forward setting up my new work station. Here are some photos of the place.

So a lot of companies that I've applied for jobs at ask that you know Illustrator. It's always a bit weird for me because even though I know how to work in Illustrator, I haven't actually made anything interesting with it because school never expected me to do work in it. So it's not my go to program when creating illustration.
This is something I've been working on and off for the last few months. Just something to show that I have skills. I might finish it. I probably have to just to have something vector based in my portfolio but I'm kind of hoping to find a program that feels more natural to me (like I'm hoping ToonBoom to be). Anyway, here it is.

Few thing have happened since last update. My comic Deacon of Darkriver is now in few stores in the Bay Area... or at least they were at the beginning of December. You can find it at Isotope Comics, Mission: Comics & Art, Comix Experience, Trickster, Fantastic Comics and the Escapist. It's also available in Nexus in Reykjavik. Unless, it's sold out (which would be fantastic), and then you can ask the stores to order more.
In other news, I've moved back to Iceland for the time being. My visa ran out and Charles and I are figuring out our next move. Also, the whole Getting-paid-artist-work thing wasn't going so well so I'm going to try to find regular work here and do art and writing at night.
Last thing, I've been experimenting with patterns. It's been a lot of fun to try something new.

Hi everyone, just wanted to check in since I all of a sudden have subscribers to this website. I promise I am working hard on the Deacon comic (btw, Kickstarter funding was successful HURRAY) but I'm going to be absent for a week starting Saturday. I know it is weird timing but this is the first time in a very long time Charles and I had some time off and we've been wanting to check out Oregon and Washington for a while.
In the meantime, here are some landscape paintings I did as a warm up.

I’m converting one of my Sketch Dailies into vector form since studios really like to see that you can do that. I’ve known how to work in Illustrator for years but never had any reason to use it at the university. It doesn’t help that my tablet monitor fights me every step of the way…
Anyway, this is going to be an illustration so there is more to come.

My friends and I have just started playing Pathfinder together. I'm playing a human cleric and when designing my character I really got carried away by her backstory. So, yeah I'm doing a comic based on it. Don't know when I'll update it next or when I finished, it is not the most prioritized project I'm working on right now, but I am very excited about it.

In other news, I am writing the longest webcomic I've ever done in my life. It is fantasy based and so long it might take me years to finish it. It is probably the most exciting project I've ever worked on. Here is some experimental painting of one of the races in it.

Oh boy, my Kickstarter campaign was approved. It will be launched tomorrow.
The Deacon of Darkriver comic.
I am so nervous, this year has not been easy and has been filled with self doubt but... I really, really like this comic. To not only be able to say "yeah, I self published a comic... no big" but be able to build on it and make more comics based on fairytales and eventually be able to launch my original webcomic would be... I don't know, everything? To work independently and not have to worry what country I am working from is everything I ever want.
Please, help share this campaign and let people know about the Deacon. Your support means a lot.
I'm going to start a Kickstarter campaign on July 1 for my comic the Deacon of Darkriver, an old Icelandic ghost story.
This is the biggest project I've undertaken single handedly in my artistic career and my goal is to finish the comic and the extra pledge level treats and the final estimated cost before June 30th. I really hope this will get funded... there is a lot riding on this.

Brainiacs or Ofvitar is a weekly comic strip I make for the Icelandic website Nerd of the North. It follows the lives of two friends, Erna and Arnar who live in Reykjavik.
I'm going to post it here in English a week later for everyone who doesn't speak Icelandic. Of course, some of the jokes might not translate but I'll try to explain it the best I can.
The first Ofvitar comic about Charles and I's experience watching Captain America: Winter Soldier.
Second comic is about when I tried to win at rock, paper, scissor by quoting a show none of my Friends watched.

I grew up reading mostly Belgian and French comics like Tintin, Asterix and more. But only some of the comics were translated you are never able to read the whole series.
They are talking about Arnaldur Indridason. His books are insanely popular in Iceland.
